Dr Colin Gallagher joints Beyond Bushfires project
We welcome Dr Colin Gallagher to the Beyond Bushfires ARC linkage project. Colin joins the Beyond Bushfires project, an Australian Research Council project focusing on social network analysis in investigating the role of social connectedness on mental health functioning and trajectories of recovery within communities affected by the 2009 Victorian bushfires. He recently completed a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics at the University of Nottingham, where his doctoral work focused on using network analysis to investigate both the social context in which second-language (L2) use and learning take place, and its relationship to the individual L2 learner/user. He is generally interested in the application of social network analysis in addressing substantive issues within social psychology, applied linguistics, intercultural communication and adaptation, and mental health.
